Privacy
Ceridian conducts business according to the principles and requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act in Canada, also known as PIPEDA, Bill C-6. At Ceridian, the privacy and confidentiality of our customers' information is one of our highest priorities. In fact, this concern is detailed in an explicit section of each customer's service level agreement.
Upon their hiring, all Ceridian employees must read our strict Privacy Guidelines, and agree to them in writing. Ceridian requires all of its employees to comply with the standards of confidentiality. Ceridian employees are bonded, and bound to confidentiality. Access to, and use of, personal information is limited to those Ceridian employees who require it to fulfill contractual obligations to their customers.
In addition, to guide our business, Ceridian uses the 10 privacy standards recommended by the Canadian Standards Association and adopted as part of the PIPEDA. Ceridian has an easy to use, secure email solution that allows Ceridian customers the ability to receive and initiate secure (encrypted) communications with just an email account and web browser. > Learn More
Type II SAS 70 Certification
Receiving a Type II SAS 70 certification demonstrates that Ceridian is proactive and thorough in terms of security and internal controls in all payroll production and related areas of the business. A number of rigorous internal controls have been developed to address customer requirements for accurate, timely and confidential payroll processing, spanning from HR policy to network administration, and from software upgrades to security patching procedures.
SAS 70 is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Conducted in accordance with the Statement on Auditing Standards, a SAS 70 audit is a highly specialized audit of the design and operational effectiveness of a service organization's internal controls over processing transactions for user organizations. A SAS70 audit is conducted twice a year and is available for auditors of our customers.

Sarbanes-Oxley: Our Compliance
Enacted in the U.S. on July 30, 2002, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is also known as the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002. This Act is aimed at restoring investor trust and confidence in the public markets. It is one of the most significant pieces of legislation devised to date affecting corporate governance, financial disclosure and the practice of public accounting.
Under Section 404 of the Act, all publicly traded companies are required to undergo a review of their internal controls over the processes that drive their financial reporting. This is separate from, and in addition to, the "normal" financial statement audits public companies always have been required to undergo.
Ceridian Corporation, the U.S.-based parent company of Ceridian Canada, must comply with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, and as such, the same principles apply to the financial management of Canadian operations. Canada's SOX internal and external testing results and management assertions are included as part of the overall Corporate SOX compliance program and therefore Canada's results are not reported separately.

Contingency Planning - Ceridian's Statement on Business Continuity & Business Resumption
Ceridian Canada's objective during a contingency event is to maintain a reasonable level of service to our customers. Our operational and administrative procedures are designed to allow continuity of operations in our data centres at a local level for relocation of operations to an alternate Ceridian site if necessary.
This includes continuity of the service function in locations across Canada, and the continuity of the payroll production of our Toronto and Montreal sites. Ceridian Canada's Contingency Plan for Production is used to guide the business through incidents, including disasters, which would cause inaccessibility to or inoperability of one of our Production locations. Our Business Recovery Team, including alternates, has been identified, and each team member and alternate is aware of their responsibility during an incident.
Six Sigma methodology/Quality & Productivity
Ceridian's Quality & Productivity team employs the Six Sigma methodology to assess the organization's current processes and initiatives, and implement changes that increase the quality of our output.
A business strategy, Six Sigma is a data driven methodology dedicated to finding the root causes of inefficiencies or poor quality, and putting long-term solutions in place to improve the way we do business.
While many companies have used Six Sigma successfully to reduce costs, within Ceridian, Six Sigma is primarily about delighting our customers with excellent service and quality.
