Privacy

At Ceridian, the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is one of our highest priorities. We recognize that privacy is an important issue, and that you trust us to respect individual privacy and ensure the confidentiality of collected information.

Upon their hiring, all Ceridian employees must read our strict Privacy Guidelines, and agree to them in writing. Ceridian employees are bonded, and bound to the principles of confidentiality and their professional, legal and ethical requirements. Access to, and use of, personal information is limited to those employees who require it to fulfill contractual obligations to our clients. Employees have been trained to answer questions about our commitment to privacy and confidentiality.

Ceridian uses the privacy standards recommended by the Canadian Standards Association and adopted as part of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

1) Accountability

Ceridian is responsible for the personal information held by the company and has a Chief Privacy Officer to be accountable for privacy. All personal information collected by Ceridian remains confidential and is appropriately safeguarded.

2) Identifying Purposes

When collecting personal information to fulfill our contractual obligation with our customers, Ceridian is obligated to respect the boundaries of employee privacy and customer confidentiality. It is expected that personal information collected by the customer then passed to Ceridian for processing has been gathered with identified purposes clearly stated.

3) Consent

Where appropriate, client consent will be obtained prior to the collection, retention, or disclosure of personal information. Ceridian expects that our customers have the necessary consent from their employees before submitting personal information to us. In some circumstances, involving client-initiated services, this consent will be deemed to have been given.

4) Limiting Collection

Ceridian collects information in order to fulfill its obligations to clients. The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by Ceridian. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.We solely collect information from our customers, and not from any other source, unless requested by the customer.

5) Limiting Use, Disclosure & Retention

Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes; or up to seven years as required by some professional obligations.

6) Accuracy

Ceridian shall keep personal information as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. It is the responsibility of Ceridian's clients to supply Ceridian with accurate, complete and up-to-date information.

7) Safeguarding Information

Personal information shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

8) Openness

Ceridian will make specific information about its personal information management policies and practices readily available on request.

9) Access

Upon request, Ceridian will inform individuals of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information. In the case where Ceridian holds that information as a result of a transfer for processing, the individual will be referred to the Ceridian customer for access. An individual shall be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate by Ceridian.
