Corporate National-level Giving
At the national level, in 2009, Ceridian Canada directed support to three worthy charitable organizations:
The United Way
Ceridian and its employees have generously supported the important work of the United Way for several years, donating over $2.3 million to United Way chapters in the centres where we’re located. With an annual two-week long fundraising campaign in all Ceridian locations across Canada, our employees go all out to make a difference!
Starlight Children's Foundation Canada
Ceridian Canada is a proud supporter of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada. For more than 25 years, Starlight has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and life-altering injuries by providing entertainment, education, and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear, and isolation of prolonged illness.
Over the past few years, Ceridian has helped fund and continues to support several Starlight projects, including: Fun Centres, Boredom Busters, and their annual Collectable Bear program.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in Canada and serves in 400 communities across the country. Some examples of the types of services The Salvation Army provides include: emergency disaster services, community and family services, street youth services, homeless services, and services for the mentally and physically challenged. The Salvation Army provides direct, compassionate, hands-on service to more than 1.5 million people in Canada each year, restoring hope and dignity to the most vulnerable in society. Ceridian is a proud supporter of this important charitable organization.

Employee-Initiated Giving
Ceridian Canada employees have always rallied in support of important causes, and have actively participated in fundraising initiatives including charity cycle-thons, triathlons, walk-a-thons, and more. Some of the wonderful causes they supported in 2009 include the Relay For Life in Markham where employees walked for 12 hours overnight in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Toromont CAT Dragon Boat Festival in support of the United Way of York Region.
Corporate Location-level Giving
Ceridian Canada is proud to fund a very special philanthropic initiative, in which an annual budget is allocated to volunteer Corporate Social Responsibility committees in each of our locations. The local committees, guided by a clear set of principles, are empowered to make decisions regarding which charitable organizations they will choose to support in their respective communities.
Since the inception of this unique program in 2006, over 150 grassroots agencies have benefitted from Ceridian’s support, and many of these helping agencies have been nominated directly by employees who are actively involved with the charities’ efforts.
Employee Volunteer Service
At Ceridian Canada, the contributions of our employee volunteers are truly remarkable. Employees donate thousands of hours of volunteer service every year, both to ensure the success of company initiatives, and to support the important efforts of charities and organizations in the communities where we’re represented.
Company Volunteer Opportunities
Within Ceridian Canada, hundreds of creative and enthusiastic employees across the country step up each year to give their time to serve on volunteer committees, such as: social, wellness, health & safety, diversity, United Way, and Corporate Social Responsibility committees; Green Guardians (environmental stewardship); and location managers. Through the efforts and dedication of Ceridian’s volunteers, our organization is able to plan events such as the annual United Way campaign, walking & fundraising challenges, blood drives, flu shot clinics, and more.
Community Volunteer Commitments
Within their local communities, Ceridian Canada employees give of their time and talents as volunteers for non-profit organizations which are near and dear to their hearts, sometimes through company-sponsored events, but more often as individuals. In support of these efforts, Ceridian makes available to all employees one work day each year to be allocated as a Volunteer Service Day.
