Professional Development Opportunities

Ceridian strives to create an environment that provides development opportunities for our employees and supports lifelong learning. In fact, Ceridian averages 50 hours of education and training per staff member each year, well above the Canadian average of 28 hours per person.

We offer a wide range of professional development opportunities to help our employees excel in their current positions, and plan and achieve future career goals.

Career Planning

Career planning at Ceridian puts you in the driver's seat. Through workshops, tools, and activities, Ceridian ensures that our employees are prepared for current and future opportunities that link to the business goals of our company. Short and long-term plans are mapped out to include learning opportunities in the form of courses, alternate job assignments, project work, and mentorship arrangements to ensure that career goals are on track and equitable.

Additionally, in September (during National Learning Week), all employees have the opportunity to attend discovery sessions at our Learn@Work Week. These sessions assist employees to align their skills to appropriate careers, and to learn more about opportunities within Ceridian through career-fair-style workshops and activities.

Apprenticeship Program (Ceridian's Internship Program - PEI only)

Ceridian has successfully launched a payroll Internship program within our organization. Our program is a 14-week paid internship cycle where successful candidates learn and are certified in the specialty of payroll administration. At the end of the cycle, interns job shadow existing specialists, and are subsequently integrated into a work team and assigned their own portfolio of accounts.

Mentorship Programs

Mentorship at Ceridian comes in several formats. Mentors may be a formal role assigned to you in your onboarding process or a more informal career mentor to guide you in your new career. Additionally, online courses provide extensive opportunities to be mentored by a mentor in the field to assist in preparation for technical certifications, in the form of "chat rooms" or email.

Customer Care Accreditation

This intensive, performance-based program focuses on the skills required for each role in manageable stages so that the learning is not overwhelming. A mentor is assigned to the employee to guide them along the process.

Best Manager Program

Ceridian has been consistently recognized as a best employer, and the relationship between our managers and employees is certainly one of our key strengths. The Best Manager program takes the data from employee engagement surveys and focus groups and links it to best practices for a program that is tailored to the specific needs of Ceridian managers.

In addition, Ceridian has created a forum for informal learning for managers which includes a social networking group and an easy-to-access repertoire of tools and resources to help them work through typical management challenges.

Leadership Challenge

In this program, leaders and future leaders will be challenged to explore what it takes to be a leader. Through action-learning events, learners will align their actions with key leadership attributes to ensure that they become great leaders.

Women's Leadership Network

This network is open to all Ceridian employees (although mainly females participate) to network, learn, and get exposure to appropriate mentors within the organization.

Additional In-House Programs

Ceridian offers a variety of learning opportunities — from technical and product to customer service and management development. Our blended model includes opportunities in the form of classroom workshops, online learning, simulations, paper-based tutorials, and mini-assignments.

Online Learning

Employees at Ceridian have access to online learning opportunities for programs that are core competencies to our organization, as well as to programs that are specific to our products and processes.

Employees can also access over 4,000 courses online on a variety of topics including business, IT, and end-user training opportunities. In addition, employees have full access to an electronic library of Business and IT books.

Tuition Assistance Program

Ceridian supports employees wishing to further develop skills and knowledge that will be of mutual benefit to both the employee and the company. Eligible full-time and part-time employees who have completed a course from a recognized post-secondary institution or certifying body will receive an annual allotment for reimbursement of tuition fees.

External Training

In addition to our Tuition Assistance Program, we also offer opportunities for employees to take other external training workshops that may not be linked to a degree, diploma or certificate.
