Ceridian-Sponsored Workforce Management Report Highlights Scheduling Best Practices
Aberdeen Group report proves that automation boosts productivity, customer satisfaction and compliance
Minneapolis, MN: May 9, 2011 — Ceridian Corporation, leading providers of managed human resource, workforce management, tax filing, and payroll outsourcing solutions for employers of all sizes, has sponsored the Aberdeen Group's Workforce Scheduling 2011: Automation Drives Accuracy, Efficiency and Business Outcomes. The report explains how best-in-class organizations leverage workforce management scheduling capabilities and technologies to impact organizational goals.
"The Aberdeen report corroborates our own findings," said Howard Tarnoff, senior vice president and general manager of Ceridian's Workforce Management practice. "We know Ceridian clients use Dayforce Workforce Management to improve their overall capabilities and meet the Aberdeen report's best-in-class standards. By aligning the workforce with corporate goals and giving managers and employees the tools that both keep them compliant and help them create the best possible schedules, companies improve their performance and maximize employee engagement."
The Workforce Scheduling 2011 report found that organizations who demonstrate best-in-class performance shared several common characteristics, including:
- Executive buy-in on the importance of scheduling and its impact on business objectives
- The use of automated solutions to standardize workforce management processes across the entire organization
- The ability to schedule employees using a number of factors: by workload, business demand, availability, etc.
- Scheduling accuracy of 90 percent or greater (i.e., the percent of schedules that don't require manager modification after creation)
- Customer satisfaction improvements of 11 percent year-over-year
- Unplanned overtime costs of 4 percent or less
"Scheduling automation remains relatively low in terms of adoption," said Jayson Saba, research analyst at Aberdeen Group. "Based on this cross-industry sample of more than 200 organizations, 39 percent currently have automated scheduling systems. Nonetheless, organizations that do automate are reaping tremendous benefits in overtime costs, employee engagement, manager productivity and compliance. Before investing in a system, an organization must standardize labor and business rules and other processes across the organization."
