Ceridian Joins Forces with Microsoft to Provide Health Insurance Exchange Solutions
Minneapolis, MN: June 7, 2011 — Ceridian Corporation, a leading provider of human resource, benefits administration, workforce management, payroll and health insurance exchange solutions, announced today it has signed a letter of intent with Microsoft to collaborate on providing small business exchange solutions. The joint effort will involve a variety of health insurance exchange marketing and selling efforts to governmental entities within the United States.
“This agreement means Ceridian and Microsoft will be bringing to market one of the most robust health insurance exchange solutions in the industry,” explained John F. Hunter, president, Ceridian Exchange Services. “Ceridian has industry-recognized experience and expertise in the benefits marketplace, most recently demonstrated by Ceridian being chosen the administrator of the Florida Health Choices small business marketplace. We have award-winning customer service and payment processing capabilities, and proven expertise in compliance and benefits administration.”
“Ceridian has been a time tested Microsoft partner across multiple implementations, and this relationship ensures that states will be working with proven, reliable and dynamic technology experts,” added Brian Russon, national practice leader for Health Insurance Exchange, Microsoft. “Ceridian’s ability to adapt to the variances of specific business needs will be pivotal as state governments build and define their health exchange needs.”
In October 2010, Ceridian was awarded the administration contract for the Florida Health Choices (FHC) small business insurance marketplace. For the FHC project, Ceridian will provide a full-range of administrative services needed to connect small businesses and employees through a web portal to evaluate and purchase insurance options that best meet their needs. Those services involve online eligibility and enrollment functions, payment processing, customer call centers, educational and community outreach programs, and decision-support tools to help employers and employees make informed health plan choices. The FHC platform is enabled by Microsoft technologies including Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft SQL Server and the Microsoft .Net Framework to create a flexible feature-rich solution for current and future needs.
Ceridian will continue with and expand the use of Microsoft technologies for future exchange opportunities as their technology is scalable and adaptable to a diverse technology landscape. For the health insurance exchange collaboration, Microsoft will be providing technology and state government expertise, while Ceridian will be providing Microsoft with valuable health insurance exchange administrative knowledge and experience.
When properly designed and implemented, health insurance exchanges can have a profound, positive and beneficial impact on businesses of all types and sizes. When states provide businesses with tangible relief from the high costs and administrative burdens of providing health care coverage, they create a more positive economic environment in which employers, employees and the states all win.
Combined, Ceridian and Microsoft will market and sell an exchange application and/or platform to governmental entities across the United States.
