Ceridian Canada recognized as one of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces
Markham, ON: November 1, 2011 — Ceridian Canada today announced that it is one of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in Canada as determined by Achievers, the fastest-growing global employee rewards and Social Recognition company. This annual award recognizes top employers that display leadership and innovation towards engaging their employees.
“This award is an honour for Ceridian Canada, because of our strong belief in the importance of employee engagement to the health of our organization, the retention of top-performers, and to our ability to provide world-class customer service,” says John Cardella, Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Ceridian Canada. “ In fact, we place so much emphasis on employee engagement, that we measure it every year and set a goal rate as one of our corporate strategic objectives. Recognition as one of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in Canada validates all the initiatives we have in place to support engagement.”
The 50 Most Engaged Workplaces Awards panel of judges evaluated each applicant on how they measured up to other organizations based on the Eight Elements of Employee Engagement™. The Eight Elements of Employee Engagement include: Communication, Leadership, Culture, Rewards & Recognition, Professional & Personal Growth, Accountability & Performance, Vision & Values and Corporate Social Responsibility.
“More employers are realizing that the most successful organizations are those that invest in employee engagement,” states Razor Suleman, CEO and Founder, Achievers. “We’re thrilled to honour those companies that are truly committed to creating positive, thriving work environments. These companies understand that their employees are their greatest asset and are leading by example as they revolutionize the workplace.”
Measuring engagement provides opportunities for valuable feedback, strategy development
In order to measure the employee engagement rate, Ceridian Canada annually surveys its employees on their opinions pertaining to workplace opportunity, teamwork, learning, development, career pathing, leadership, and more. In 2011, which marked the 10th consecutive year of the program, almost 90 per cent of Ceridian’s more than 1,300 employees completed the survey. According to Cardella, Ceridian Canada’s HR team will soon begin conducting more than 100 follow-up employee focus groups to gain further insight into the results, comments and recommendations, and drill down in areas of concern.
“The real value of measuring our engagement rate is that we can learn about how to be a top employer just by asking our own employees, and they become part of the process of building a great place to work,” said Cardella. “The concept of engagement may seem somewhat abstract, and some might even say it is not a concrete business issue. At Ceridian Canada, we know that engagement is very real, and the impact of an engaged workforce can not only be felt, but it can be measured.”
Ceridian Canada will be recognized alongside other recipients of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ Award at a gala on November 15, 2011 in Toronto.
